Icanserve event: Healing Spaces

September 16, 2004

The fight against cancer is more than chemotherapy and radiation. It includes solidity of spirit beyond the physical body.

Breast cancer survivors recounted their sources of strength throughout their treatment. Their words were transformed into photographs by artist Isa Lorenzo  in a fund raising exhibit entitled “ Healing Spaces.”

The images are about signs that surround us, signs that seem random, but are not. They are patchworks of strength that embrace and heal.

Highlight of the exhibit opening was a song by Grace Nono. artist-producer of contemporary, culture-based Philippine music.

Singer and member of the Apo Hiking Society, Jim Paredes and his wife Lydia, a volunteer for ICanServe, gave inspirational talks.

Crisann Celdran, ICanServe volunteer, welcomed the visitors along with master of ceremonies, multimedia artist Carlos Celdran.
